Position Summary:

OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW invites applications for 2-3 full-time, tenure-track faculty positions, to begin in Fall 2027. We welcome applications from candidates in all doctrinal areas, and we have particular needs in first-year courses (Civil Procedure, Contracts, Torts, Criminal Law, and Property). We seek applicants whose commitment to teaching, research, and service will enhance the learning of our students, broaden the impact of our faculty scholarship, and enrich our close-knit academic community. Candidates are expected to teach courses in both the in-person and the online J.D. program, which is currently being developed.  The online J.D. program will be fully online, and courses are likely to be both asynchronous and synchronous.  All full-time faculty will fulfill their responsibilities in person at OCU Law.

In addition to 2-3 tenure-track faculty positions, OCU Law anticipates hiring a Legal Research & Writing Professor and a Program Director for the online J.D. program during the 2026-2027 hiring season, with successful candidates beginning appointments in fall 2027.

Candidates should have an excellent academic background, a strong commitment to effective and engaged teaching, demonstrated potential to become a productive scholar, and a sincere commitment to integrity and a welcoming environment. We have built a community that values dedication, collegiality, and professionalism, and we are seeking candidates who share these values. Candidates must have either a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school or the combination of a foreign law degree and either an L.L.M. or S.J.D. degree from a U.S. law school.

Our beautiful, historic law building is in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City, the 21st-most-populous city in America. We are within walking distance of the federal and county courthouses, and we are deeply engaged with the legal, business, nonprofit, and government communities of the city and state. In fact, the Mayor of OKC (David Holt) is our OCU Law Dean. OKC is consistently ranked among America’s “Best Places to Live,” is home to the 2025 NBA Champion Thunder, and is hosting events in the 2028 Olympics. OCU Law is the home of the Oklahoma Innocence Project, the OCU Tribal Sovereignty Institute, and the USPTO’s Regional Pro Bono Patent Program.
