Oklahoma City University School of Law seeks a Director of Academic Achievement, to begin on August 1, 2027.  This may be either a staff or faculty position, as described below. 

            The mission of the Academic Achievement Department is to train a diverse population of law students for the rigor of law school, the bar exam, and the practice of law, using for-credit courses, voluntary workshops, and individual coaching.  The Director designs and manages all aspects of the Academic Achievement program, teaches at least some of the for-credit courses in the program, and helps develop and run our post-graduation bar preparation program. 

            The position is eligible for faculty status at the Instructor level, with an opportunity for a long-term, voting position as a Senior Instructor after a probationary period.  A candidate wishing to be considered for faculty status must participate in a faculty hiring process that includes a “job talk”.  Instructors are not required to engage in scholarship, but they are expected to be excellent, dedicated teachers; engage in service to the school; and contribute to the faculty community.  The Director of Academic Achievement reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

            Candidates should have an excellent academic background, a strong commitment to becoming an effective and engaged classroom teacher, the ability to design and administer vigorous academic enhancement programs, and a sincere commitment to integrity and a welcoming environment. Candidates with experience in teaching or academic support are preferred. Candidates must have either a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school or a foreign law degree with a U.S. LL.M. or S.J.D.  Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
