Position Summary: 

The Department of Biology in the Petree College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma City University is seeking tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Biology whose innovative and creative instruction will complement and enhance the department’s pre-health profession related programs.   

While area of specialization is open, candidates will be expected to teach Human Anatomy and Human Physiology. Additional courses may include Introductory Biology for Majors, Microbiology, and/or Immunology or other courses to complement the pre-health profession related curriculum.   

The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their teaching, scholarship, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. The Department of Biology is interested in candidates who understand the barriers facing different groups of students and are passionate about helping all students meet their academic and career goals.   

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled, with a start date of August 2027.  Finalists will be expected to present an engaging teaching demonstration as part of the interview process.  

Qualifications  

A PhD in biological sciences and previous college teaching experience is preferred, while ABD candidates will be considered. Compensation, rank, and length of tenure track will be commensurate with experience.  

Duties  

Duties of this position include teaching 21 credit hours annually, active participation in departmental, college, and university service, establishing an active research program involving undergraduates, active participation in the department's assessment program,  participation in student recruiting and retention efforts for the college and the university.
