Position Summary:

Oklahoma City University invites applications for the position of Production Manager. The Production Manager coordinates productions and special events in the School of Theatre and the Wanda L. Bass School of Music. The Production Manager will join our professional staff and oversee functions surrounding the rehearsal and production process across several OCU production series.

Job Duties:

  • Serve as Production Manager for the School of Theatre, the Bass School of Music, and other series/productions supported by the Design & Production program
  • Create and manage production calendars in coordination with area heads
  • Oversee and coordinate scheduling of theatrical spaces and rehearsal halls/studios in the School of Theatre and Bass School of Music
  • Collaborate with faculty and administrators in the development of season calendars and season selection process
  • Supervise production meetings and design meetings
  • Attendance at and coordination of technical rehearsals and dress rehearsals
  • Create and administer online production callboard sites
  • Assist in mentoring student stage managers on selected productions
  • Supervise student assistant production managers
  • Manage production elements for Design & Production-supported productions and events with community partners
  • Coordinate special events in theatre spaces and rehearsal halls/studios
  • Collaborate on production budget development
  • Draft contracts for selected guest artists and designers
  • Manage scheduling, deadlines, and technical rehearsals for summer productions in OCU performance spaces

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in theatre production, fine arts, or related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in production management, stage management, or equivalent experience in the entertainment industry
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and relevant production software

Preferred Qualifications

  • BFA degree in Production Management, Stage Management, or Theatre Production
  • 2 or more years of experience as a Stage/Production Manager in a university and/or professional entertainment organization
  • Working knowledge of AEA, IATSE, USA, & SDC agreements

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily indoors, but requires the incumbent to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between campus buildings or off campus
  • Attendance at evening and weekend events is regularly required.
  • Off-campus, state, and regional travel may occasionally be required.

School of Theatre

The School of Theatre offers comprehensive and diverse undergraduate focused programs with tracks in professional and applied theatre training. We offer a BFA in Acting, BFA in Design and Production, and a BA in Theatre Innovation & Entrepreneurship in a program that has gained a national reputation and currently has a steady population of around 200 majors. The School of Theatre is a part of the Margaret E. Petree College of Performing Arts which includes the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment and the Wanda L. Bass School of Music.

The Design and Production area supports the mainstage and studio productions for the School of Theatre and the Opera & Musical Theatre program within the Bass School of Music. The school has partnerships with two local professional theatre companies: Oklahoma Children’s Theatre and Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma. The Design and Production area has three additional partnerships: Oklahoma City Ballet, Music Theatre Wichita, and Factor 110. The School of Theatre prepares young theatre artists for a sustainable, professional life.
