VP Area: Physician Assistant Program

Position Summary: The Physician Assistant (PA) Program within the College of Health Professions occasionally has openings for part-time adjunct faculty. Applying for a part-time adjunct teaching position allows the PA Program Director to access available candidate information if and when a part-time adjunct teaching need arises within the current or future academic year. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach course or components of a course as assigned by the PA Program Director
  • Coordinate and teach the didactic course established within the PA Program in accordance with applicable accreditation standards
  • Develop and distribute course syllabus and course content in accordance with protocols and templates provided by the PA Program and applicable accreditation standards
  • Hold office hours outside of scheduled class and individual advisement to support the students, as needed 
  • Formulate, proctor, and grade course assessments and assignments  
  • Serve as student advisor and small group facilitator in learning experiences as directed by the PA Program Director
  • Adhere to all policies within the Oklahoma City University Faculty and Staff Handbooks

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree as a Physician Assistant or terminal degree in a relevant field is required.  Additional education requirements may vary by course.  Those who are PAs must be currently certified by NCCPA, eligible for licensure in Oklahoma, and a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a PA.
  • Previous experience teaching at the graduate level is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computer skills sufficient to deliver online instruction (if applicable), navigate course management software, and common Microsoft Office applications.
  • Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.
  • Ability to maintain course schedule through regular, punctual attendance.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with the PA program director and program faculty and staff.

 

Additional Information:

  • The work requirements for this position include teaching during daytime and some evening hours depending upon the needs of the department and its students.  Generally, classes are held in the Sarkeys building on the OCU campus, however, some classes may take place in other locations on campus.
  • Foreign national adjuncts must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship and will be required to provide information regarding their status after hire for international taxation purposes.
  • Interested adjuncts must apply fully and online to be considered.
  • Candidates who are selected and accept teaching assignments must provide their current CV and transcripts upon hire.  All university employees must complete a criminal background check and mandatory training.  Once hired, adjunct faculty are typically onboarded at least two weeks before the beginning of the semester to which they are assigned.  Adjuncts who do not complete all steps in the hiring and onboarding process in a timely manner may experience a delay in pay.

The Senior Associate Dean and Nurse Administrator provides academic and administrative leadership for the Kramer School of Nursing and serves as the designated Nurse Administrator for purposes of ACEN accreditation and Oklahoma Board of Nursing program approval. Reporting directly to the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the Senior Associate Dean holds the authority and accountability required of the Nurse Administrator under Oklahoma Board of Nursing rules, including direct responsibility for administration of the School’s nursing education program, preparation and administration of the School budget, implementation of faculty development programs, and recommendation of qualified faculty for appointment, promotion, tenure (if applicable), and retention. The Senior Associate Dean ensures compliance and alignment with applicable accreditation and regulatory body standards and reporting requirements. As a senior member of college leadership, the Senior Associate Dean and Nurse Administrator works collaboratively with the Dean in providing strategic and operational direction for the College.
