Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Athletics Communications supports the execution of the athletic department’s communications strategy by managing day-to-day media relations, content creation, digital platforms, and game-day operations for assigned sports. This position focuses on implementation, production, and operational support while working under the direction of the Director of Athletics Communications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience in athletic communications, sports information, or media relations.
Experience with:
Statistical software (StatCrew, NCAA Live Stats, etc.)
Content management systems (SIDEARM, Presto, etc.)
Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a collegiate athletics environment.
Basic photography and videography skills.

Job Duties:

 

  • % - Media Relations & Communications Support - Serve as the primary media contact for assigned sports, coordinating interviews and responding to media inquiries. - Draft and distribute press releases, game notes, and post-game recaps. - Assist in coordinating media coverage and credentialing for home events. - Support post-game press conferences and media interactions. Content Creation & Digital Execution - Write feature stories, previews, and recaps for assigned sports. - Create and edit graphics, videos, and multimedia content for digital platforms. - Assist in executing social media content plans to promote teams and student-athletes. - Maintain consistent and accurate team information across platforms. Website & Data Management - Update and maintain the athletics website including rosters, schedules, bios, statistics, and historical records. - Compile, verify, and distribute game statistics using approved software systems. Game-Day Operations - Manage assigned game-day responsibilities including press box operations, live statistics, and media coordination. - Assist with live streaming and broadcast support. - Assist with facility setup and breakdown as needed. Awards, Records & Reporting - Prepare and submit nominations for conference and national awards. - Maintain accurate historical records, statistics, and photo archives. Collaboration & Administrative Support - Coordinate with internal departments to support promotional efforts. - Assist with special events and department initiatives. - Perform other duties as assigned - (Essential)

- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.

- Collaborative mindset and ability to follow direction within a team structure.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Work is primarily indoors, but at times may be required to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between campus buildings or off campus, performing game operation duties for outdoor sports and performing outdoor event duties.
• Will be exposed to frequent noise caused by spectators, telephones and office machines.
• Off-campus, state and regional travel is required.
