Position Summary:

 

The Dulaney-Browne Library and the Wanda L. Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University invite applications for a tenure-track Music and Performing Arts Librarian position beginning in August 2024. This role is pivotal in providing library services with a specialized focus on the performing arts. The Music Librarian will oversee the Leichter Listening Library in the cutting-edge Wanda L. Bass Music Center, and offer services to the Dulaney-Browne Library, including reference, instruction, and faculty liaison duties. As a member of the university faculty, the Music Librarian is subject to the guidelines outlined in the Oklahoma City University Faculty Handbook and is expected to demonstrate continuous professional growth through participation in professional organizations, continuing education, and scholarly pursuits. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Collection Development: Develop and curate library collections in music and the performing arts for both the Leichter Listening Library and the Dulaney-Browne Library. 

  • Leichter Listening Library Oversight: Manage the operation of the Leichter Listening Library, with a particular focus on training students and staff to effectively handle materials within the Leichter Listening Library. 

  • Instructional Responsibilities: Actively engages students and faculty in information literacy through direct interaction, in-class instruction (both in-person and through technology), instructional materials development, and collection enhancement. May teach Musicological Methods, a graduate bibliography, and a research course. 

  • Assessment and Committee Participation: Collaborate with campus and library assessment committees to create and implement assessment methods to inform decision-making. 

  • Faculty Liaison: Act as a liaison to the Wanda L. Bass School of Music, the School of Theatre, and the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment, working closely with classroom faculty to promote information literacy and collection development. 

Qualifications: 

  • Master of Library Science or equivalent required: Obtained from a library or information science program accredited by the American Library Association. 

  • Master's degree in music preferred: Demonstrating a strong background and expertise in the field. 

  • Previous Academic/Music Library Experience preferred 

  • Teaching Experience preferred 

  • Evidence of Successful College-Level Teaching: Evidence of successful teaching at the college level is preferred. 

  • Experience with OCLC WorldShare Management Services preferred.
