Salary: The position is budgeted for $35,000 annually. 

Position Summary:

The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach and Coordinator of Athletics Operations will assist the Head Coach in the daily coaching, administrative, and recruiting demands of the program in a part-time capacity. Additionally, the role provides coordination of and support for a range of athletics operations. This position reports to the head coach and assigned sports administrator.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in collegiate coaching is required. A suitable combination of education and experience may be substituted for minimum requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in athletics coordination is preferred.

Job Duties:

  • Demonstrate an attitude and behavior that reflects the values and mission of the university.
    • Coaching Responsibilities:
      • Teach advanced level offensive and defensive skills, game and team strategies as directed by the head coach.
      • Prepare for daily practice sessions and address specific equipment issues as they arise before, during, or after practice, assist in the preparation, planning, conducting and evaluation of practice sessions, work with individuals on specific tasks and skills before, during and after practice, during season and off-season, oversee all strength and conditioning sessions on or off campus, serve as mentor to athletes, helping resolve academic and non-academic issues, and be available to coaches and players before, during and after practices, matches, and events as position allows.
    • Academic Support:
      • Assist student-athletes with enrollment process, coordinate and monitor study hall for the student-athlete, monitor academic progress and intervene when necessary, maintain effective and open communication with OCU faculty; inform them of student-athlete absences due to athletic events.
    • Coordination of Athletics Operations:
      • Assist in the preparation and operation of home athletics competitions.
      • Assist in the preparation and operation of university events conducted in athletics facilities.
      • Game manager of fall and spring sport competitions as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director of Internal Affairs Assist in the preparation of external events conducted in athletic facilities.
      • Assist with athletic eligibility certification for all sports.
      • Assist with athletic office operations.
  • All other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong commitment to the student-athlete concept
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate technique and skills to the student-athlete
  • Working knowledge of applicable collegiate rules and regulations
  • Recruiting skills preferred
  • Ability to recruit and coach student-athletes
  • Ability to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the university, applicable conferences, agencies, etc
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively – orally, telephonically, in person and in writing
  • Ability to represent the university and Athletics department in a friendly, courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment as required

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Significant evening, night and week-end work required.
  • Work is primarily indoors.
  • May be exposed to steady, fairly loud noises.

Nursing School
The Senior Associate Dean and Nurse Administrator provides academic and administrative leadership for the Kramer School of Nursing and serves as the designated Nurse Administrator for purposes of ACEN accreditation and Oklahoma Board of Nursing program approval. Reporting directly to the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the Senior Associate Dean holds the authority and accountability required of the Nurse Administrator under Oklahoma Board of Nursing rules, including direct responsibility for administration of the School’s nursing education program, preparation and administration of the School budget, implementation of faculty development programs, and recommendation of qualified faculty for appointment, promotion, tenure (if applicable), and retention. The Senior Associate Dean ensures compliance and alignment with applicable accreditation and regulatory body standards and reporting requirements. As a senior member of college leadership, the Senior Associate Dean and Nurse Administrator works collaboratively with the Dean in providing strategic and operational direction for the College.
